Fence height rules catch more homeowners out than you'd think.
Front gardens are limited to 1 metre next to highways, while rear boundaries can go up to 2 metres—but listed buildings and conservation areas have stricter rules still.
We advise on exactly what's permitted at your property before we start, saving you the hassle of dealing with your local council.
We install both timber and composite fencing and won't push you towards the more expensive option if it doesn't suit your needs.
Composite costs more upfront but lasts 20-25 years with almost no maintenance.
We'll lay out the real differences and let you decide what works for your budget.
A fence that blows down in the first big storm isn't saving anyone money.
We use concrete posts where exposure demands it, install proper gravel boards to keep timber off the ground, and secure every panel to handle the wind that comes with living in the North West.
Done right, your fence stays standing for years.
A sagging fence panel, a post that's rotted through at the base, or gaps that every fox in the neighbourhood has spotted.
For most homeowners, fencing isn't something they think about until it becomes a problem, usually after a windy weekend leaves half the boundary flattened across the lawn.
No privacy from overlooking neighbours, gaps too wide for pets, or panels that are simply the wrong height for what you need.
Replacing piecemeal just spreads the cost out without actually solving the problem, and DIY attempts often result in wobbly posts and uneven runs that look worse than what was there before.

We install fencing across the full range of materials - timber panels, composite boards, and metal options - and handle everything from removing your old fence through to final finishing.
We work with both timber and composite fencing, and we'll give you a straight comparison of costs, lifespan, and maintenance so you can make the right choice for your garden. If your fence runs along the front of your property or borders a highway, we'll flag up any planning permission requirements before we quote—no nasty surprises later.

We remove your old fencing, posts, and concrete footings, disposing of everything properly.
New posts go in at the correct depth for your chosen material, typically 600mm minimum in concrete, with proper spacing to support each panel or board run.
Concrete posts are recommended for exposed positions; timber posts suit more sheltered locations where cost is the priority.
Gravel boards go in first, lifting the fence clear of ground moisture and splash. Panels or boards are then fixed securely to the posts with appropriate hardware for the material.
For composite fencing, boards are fixed to aluminium or steel frame systems.
For timber, panels slot or screw into position depending on the post type. Every section is checked for level and secure fixing before we move on.

If you need a gate, whether a single garden gate or a wider vehicle gate, we fit it at this stage, matched to your fence style and material.
We add capping to timber posts to shed water and extend their life, do a final check of the whole run, and clean up the site.
You get care instructions for your specific fence type before we leave.

At the rear and sides of your property, you can go up to 2 metres without permission. At the front, or anywhere next to a highway or public footpath, the limit drops to 1 metre. Properties in conservation areas or listed buildings may have additional restrictions. We check all of this during your site survey.
Most residential jobs take 1-3 days depending on the length of the run and material chosen. A 20-metre timber fence typically takes a day, while a longer composite run might take two or three. We'll give you an accurate estimate during your survey so you can plan accordingly.
It depends on how long you plan to stay in your home. If you're there long-term, composite usually works out cheaper over its lifetime because it needs no painting, staining, or replacing. If you're moving within five years, timber at a lower upfront cost makes more sense. We'll walk you through the numbers for your specific run length.
This is usually set out in your property deeds or title plans. As a rough guide, the boundary on the left side of your property (as viewed from the street) is typically your responsibility, but this isn't a legal rule. We can help you identify which fences are yours during the survey.
If your posts are still sound and the run is structurally solid, we can absolutely replace individual panels. We'll assess the existing posts and structure during the survey and let you know what's realistic. No point replacing everything if half of it is still good.
A fence blowing down usually means the posts weren't deep enough or the panels weren't secured properly. We install posts to the correct depth for your material and exposure, and fix panels securely throughout. If a storm does cause damage after installation, give us a call and we'll assess what needs doing.
It's always good practice to speak to your neighbours before installing or replacing a fence, especially if it affects a shared boundary. While there's no legal requirement to get their permission on your own land, it avoids disputes and keeps things neighbourly. We can advise on the best approach if you're unsure.
Yes, sloping ground is actually quite common in Manchester gardens. We step the panels up or down to follow the gradient, which may mean some panels need cutting to fit. The posts still go in at the correct depth regardless of slope, and we make sure there are no gaps along the bottom where animals could get through.
We are generally booked out for around 4-6 weeks but with fencing jobs generally taking less time than other projects, we may be able to fit you into our schedule earlier.
